I have just uncorked a Marsannay from Sylvain Pataille, his upfront cuvee because many of his 2018s will not yet even be in bottle. This to go with Taka-san’s Karaägé chicken. It is a vibrant, bright, lively wine, with a nose which in youth is living on the edge. Many 2018s made with a proportion of whole bunches have this edge to them, which I think will resolve in time this bottle is still much too young.
